For release #19 we hand the reigns back to label co-founder Tom Luka.

“Hustle” is a 3-track EP and Tom’s longest title to date on his Brighton based imprint and we feel it has been well worth the wait. “Dead or Alive?” sets the tone for the release with its smooth Rhodes easing us in before morphing into broken stabs interspaced with precise percussive elements. “Colour” takes a slightly different approach in layering a big airy synth across the track calling upon casual drum rhythms and evolving basslines to provide the dynamics. Finally we are taken to the title track “Hustle” which features the vocals of the very talented young singer Gemma Jayne. Sleek chords are once again the focal point as Gemma’s vocal creeps around a highly percussive drum pattern pulling your ears from side to side as melodic elements drift in and out. The track finds its groove once again as a far rawer stab is added to the equation and the vocals slip into a more continuous stream culminating in what is actually an incredibly catchy hook.

Creative and perhaps even experimental, yet still holding together all the key elements required for a fantastic set of grooving House cuts.
